2022-23 PROGRAM
FOR TEACHERS

Picture
Beginning this summer, we will kick off a new yearlong institute for a select number of K-12 educators in any discipline that is based on the Storytelling for Social Justice (STSJ) framework, developed by Lee Ann Bell and used nationally since 2010. During the institute, we will take a critical look at the problematic narratives that are currently circulating around the nation about students, teachers, and schools.

To address these challenges, we will work together in community to:
  • take a deep dive into the STSJ framework
  • develop powerful counternarratives that center anti-racist teaching
  • learn practical classroom strategies related to the STSJ model that integrate equity-centered writing, making, and embodied movement
  • hone our own skills as teacher-leaders and advocates who are intent on develop a more just and peaceful world

Applicants who are accepted into the institute will
receive a $500 stipend, books and materials, and the option to purchase  CSU graduate credits for completion of all institute meetings and requirements. The institute will begin with a two-day retreat in August, followed by face-to-face and virtual meetings during the academic year, and a culminating retreat in Summer 2023.
The application will be available in early June.
