WHAT ARE TEACHERS SAYING ABOUT
SUSTAINABLE TEACHING?

Sustainable teaching is about the business of
reclaiming teaching as sacred work

rather than TGIF-ing our way through half of our waking lives.
It's about claiming the right to thrive, not just survive.

And that’s what makes it radical.

Since 2017, hundreds of educators across Colorado, the nation, and abroad have participated in professional development on sustainable teaching.
The testimonials featured here
offer just a snapshot of their experiences.

Skye Marsh, a middle school English teacher from Fort Collins,
poses the question,

"Wait a minute, what can I do for me first so that I can
keep the kids at the forefront of my brain?”
"Teaching is human work.
Sustainable teaching
grounds us firmly in our humanity
so that we can serve the humanity in others."

During the 2019-20 school year, Cherry Creek School District became the first district to offer an Institute for Sustainable Teaching for educators across the district. Click on the image below to see what CCSD participants have to say about how the sustainable teaching framework is revitalizing their professional and personal lives.

Anne Colwell, a high school journalism teacher from Fort Collins, explains how sustainable teaching has helped her respond to
a national conversation that says,

“Hey, teacher, you are responsible for saving us all, but you’re doing a terrible job!”
Art teacher from Greeley, Cindy Trevizo,
challenges educators to consider this:

How can the sustainable teaching framework allow you to integrate more joy, creativity, and lasting learning
 in the classroom?

Jason Tyler, a high school theatre teacher from Fort Collins,
addresses the question:

What can sustainable teaching teach you about
really being in the moment with your students in the classroom?
